Development of a system for the automatic identification of reading fluency in early literacy, in the scope of the MEC-ITA cooperation. Audio is captured by a locally developed device and platform, stored for later processing, and analysed with machine-learning models that derive fluency metrics; more than 1,000 recordings of children in the literacy acquisition phase were used. The academic ALFA/FAL project series (ALFA2-BD, ALFA2-TR, ALFA3-BD, ALFA3-TR) built successive versions of this system, and two of the resulting case studies were published at ITNG.
